Course Outcome: Bengali

Course 1

The following outcomes are expected to be achieved at the end of the course:

  • Students will have knowledge about development of Bengali literature during the ancient and the medieval period.
  • Students will be aware about contemporary social, political and socio economic environment.
  • Students will understand the need of studying old literature in the present times.

 

Course 2

The following outcomes are expected to be achieved at the end of the course:

  • Students will be able to understand the usage of language in poems during the medieval period. They will be able to relate to the transformation of language.
  • Students will know about the social, political, religious and socio economic aspects during the medieval age.

 

Course 3

The following outcomes are expected to be achieved at the end of the course:

  • Bengali literature has evolved from Sanskrit literature through translations. Therefore, students who pursue this course are expected to know Sanskrit literature.
  • Through history of Sanskrit literature students will be aware about the social, political, and economic condition of the past.
  • Students will know about ‘Natya Sahitya’.

 

Course 4

The following outcomes are expected to be achieved at the end of the course:

  • Students will know about evolution of Bengali language.
  • Students will know about the Bengali script and its origin.
  • Students will know about the correct pronunciations.

Course 5

The following outcomes are expected to be achieved at the end of the course:

  • Students will know the reason behind origin of ‘Mangal Kavya’.
  • Students will know why ‘Manasa’, ‘Candi’ and other goddesses are worshipped and they will be able to analyse whether this is required in the present times.

 

Course 6

The following outcomes are expected to be achieved at the end of the course:

  • Students will have an overall development in their subject arena.
  • Students will learn, how ‘Chando ‘is used in Bengali Literature, and they will be able to use ‘Chando’ in their own writings.
  • Students will develop a knowledge on ‘Chanda’ and how it is used by different poets in Bengali Literature.
  • The concept of ‘Alankar’ will be clear to the students, and how ‘shabdolankar’ and ‘arthalankar’ is used in Bengali Literature will be understandable to them.
  • Overall concept of ‘Chando’ and ‘Alonkar’ will enrich students in their original work.

 

Course 7

The following outcomes are expected to be achieved at the end of the course:

  • Along with Bengali literature, students will also be acquainted with English and Sanskrit literature.
  • Students will get an idea on the time line of different era when drama, poems, novels and short stories were popularized.
  • Students will understand how English poets and authors influenced Bengali literature.
  • Students having a sound knowledge on English Literature will easily be able to compare both the Literature.

 

Course 8

The following outcomes are expected to be achieved at the end of the course:

  • Students will develop knowledge about poems of the 19 th and the 20 th Century. They will have an understanding of the contemporary society of that era.
  • By studying the poems which describe nature in various ways, students will develop an eye for beauty of the nature and will be able to use that in their own work.
  • Students will develop the idea of regional language and how it was used by different poets in their own explanations.
  • Students will be able to enact these poems to express themselves and develop their concept of Bengali Literature.

 

Course 9

The following outcomes are expected to be achieved at the end of the course:

  • Students will develop a knowledge on the socio, political and economic structure of family and society and how it influenced Bengali Literature.
  • The concept of ‘Class’ and how the society is divided into different classes will be clear to students by reading these novels.
  • The concepts of social, political and economic problems of the society will be clear to students through analysis of literary work.
  • Students will develop an overall knowledge of Bengali Literature by studying the novels.

 

Course 10

The following outcomes are expected to be achieved at the end of the course:

  • Students will develop the idea of short stories and how beautifully these are being authored by Bengali writers.
  • They will understand the rural beauty as shown in Bengali literature and they will be able to distinguish the contemporary reality with it.
  • Students will grasp a knowledge on how the concept of religion and communalism was used in Bengali Literature through short stories.
  • Students will develop an overall knowledge of Bengali Literature through short stories.

 

Course 11

The following outcomes are expected to be achieved at the end of the course:

  • History of Sanskrit and Hindi Literature will give an outlook of our Indian literature while history of English literature will give an outlook of the Western Literature.
  • Students will develop their comparative skill.
  • Students will have an overall knowledge on various streams of writers of these different literatures.
  • Students will learn how Sanskrit, English and Hindi literature influenced Bengali literature.

 

Course 12

The following outcomes are expected to be achieved at the end of the course:

  • Students will learn what is Literature, and what are the specific qualities to understand a Literary Merit.
  • Students will develop knowledge about different arena of literature along with their history, evolution and scope.
  • Students will be able to define different arena of literary work along their features and examples.
  • Students will develop overall knowledge on Comparative Literature and will be able to anlyse them.
