CENTRE FOR DOOARS STUDIES

The Center for Dooars Studies at Alipurduar Mahila Mahavidyalaya is an initiative to honour, document, and research the indigenous heritage of North Bengal’s Dooars region. Through interdisciplinary scholarship, it will focus on tribal affairs, ecological knowledge, cultural practices, and linguistic diversity, while striving to preserve and promote their rich artistic expressions. By bringing forth unheard stories and ancestral wisdom, the Centre aims to bridge local traditions with global academia.

The Centre was inaugurated on 22nd of April, 2025 marking the rise of a platform committed to uncovering, preserving and celebrating the rich cultural, ecological, socio - political and economic tapestry of the Dooars region. It is our commitment to look inward, to study our roots, and to amplify the voices that have remained in the margin.
