Outcome of the Study
Course 1: INDIAN PHILOSOPHY
- Students will get knowledge about some Indian schools of philosophy.
- Students can understand that materialistic world is not their destiny.
- Students will be able to internalize that there is something beyond the logical world.
Course 2: LOGIC (WESTERN) I
- Students will be able to think critically and logically.
- Using logic students will be able to adapt and make appropriate decisions.
- From this course students will get the knowledge about traditional and Aristotelian logic.
Course 3: WESTERN PHILOSOPHY
- Students will have knowledge about major movements, issues and philosophical systems of the ancient, medieval and modern era.
- Students will be aware of philosophy of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.
- Students will be acquainted with the concept of rationalism.
Course 4: ETHICS
- It will guide the students for moral daily living and judge whether their behaviour can be justified.
- Students can understand their moral responsibilities towards the society.
- Students will get the knowledge about Kantian theory, Utilitarianism, Virtue, ethics etc.
Course 5: INDIAN PHILOSOPHY II
- Students will know about some Indian Schools of philosophy.
- Students can understand that materialistic world is not their destiny.
- Students will be able to realise that there is something beyond the logical world.
Course 6: WESTERN PHILOSOPHY II
- Students will have knowledge about major movements, issues and philosophical systems of the ancient, medieval and modern era.
- Students will know about empiricism.
- Students will have a concept of Kantian-critical theory.
Course 7: LOGIC (WESTERN) II
- Studying logic is important since it helps people with critical thinking and thinking more clearly or logically.
- Using logic an individual will be able toadapt and make appropriate decisions.
- Students will be aware of the concept of Predicate logic, Shaffer’s Stroke Function, CNF, DNF, Truth tree, Mill’s method.
Course 8: PSYCHOLOGY
- Students will demonstrate an understanding of the evolution of psychology and the importance of the scientific method.
- Students will have an understanding of the parts of the brain, their functions and the relationship between biology and psychology.
- Students will develop an understanding of the concept of personality and psychological disorder.
Course 9: PHILOSOPHY OF RELIGION
- Students will understand the relation between philosophy and religion.
- Students will understand the concept of existence of God and also religion without God.
- Students will gather knowledge about religious language and belief.
Course 10: SOCIAL AND POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY
- Students will be aware of the concepts of justice, freedom, equality, liberty, democracy and authority in modern context as well as in the past.
- Students will understand the religious, moral codes, class, caste custom and law.
- Students will understand their social responsibilities as a human being.
Course 11: TARKASAMGRAHA
- Students will get knowledge about ultimate reality.
- Students will get a clear picture of Nyaya – Vaisesika philosophy.
- Students will understand the similarities and dissimilarities between Nyaya and Vaisesika philosophy.
Course 12: ANALYTIC PHILOSOPHY I
- Students will understand the relationship between language and reality.
- Students will be able to remove vagueness from language in terms of Philosophy.
- As students of Philosophy, they shall apply logical techniques in order to attain conceptual clarity.
- Students will learn that philosophy should be consistent with the success of modern science.
Course 13: ANALYTIC PHILOSOPHY II
- Students will get knowledge about ‘The Problems of Philosophy’ and ‘The Elimination of Metaphysics’.
- Students will be able to identify the problems in Philosophy.
- Students will have a clear knowledge about Bertrand Russell and A. J. Ayer’s philosophy.
Course 14: APPLIED ETHICS
- Students will be guided for responsible behaviour and they will learn to take responsibility for their actions.
- Students will know about environmental ethics, medical ethics, human rights, media ethics, discrimination on the basis of sex, race, caste and religion etc.
